Arch of West Virginia's Fanco Facility Recognized for Perfect Five-Year Safety Record

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Sept. 20, 2002) –Gov. Bob Wise recently presented Arch of West Virginia’s Fanco preparation plant and loadout with the 2002 Governor’s Safety Award for outstanding safety achievement and performance.

Arch’s Fanco facility worked 1,943 days – more than five years – without a statistical injury. Located in Logan County, Fanco annually ships about 3.5 million tons of coal.

“We are honored to receive recognition from Governor Wise and the State of West Virginia,” said Ken Hodak, general manager, Arch of West Virginia. “Safety is one of Arch’s guiding principles. This award is evidence of Fanco’s ongoing commitment to safety.”

The Governor’s Award is presented annually to West Virginia businesses and industries in recognition of outstanding safety achievement and performance. Awards are presented to government agencies and chemical, construction, health care, manufacturing, mining, transportation and utility industries.
